The project is located in the factory area of Shougang Jingtang Iron and Steel United Co., Ltd. The first phase of the project consists of two 5500m blast furnaces, which are the first super large blast furnaces built in China with a length of over 5000m. The annual production of iron is 8.98 million tons, and it is designed, manufactured, and constructed by Shougang itself according to the concept of circular economy. It adopts advanced technology and equipment that are currently world-class, making the 5500m 'blast furnace a super large blast furnace with international advanced level in the 21st century. The design life of the blast furnace is 25 years, using the BSKiBeijing shougang Kalugin top fired hot blast stove technology independently designed and developed by Shougang. This is the first time it has been applied to a 5000m 'super large blast furnace, with a complete automation detection and control system and environmental dust removal system, achieving the goal of "high efficiency, low consumption, long life, and cleanliness" in blast furnace production. Construction began in March 2007 and was completed in May 2009. Received the 2010-2011 China Construction Engineering Luban Award and the National Quality Engineering Gold Award. The second phase of the project is a blast furnace, which started construction on June 20, 2016 and was completed on March 31, 2018. Received the 2020-2021 China Construction Engineering Luban Award.
