The joint venture coking plant project between Shougang Corporation and Kailuan Precision Coal Co., Ltd. has a final production scale of 2.2 million tons of coke per year, with the first and second phases both producing 1.1 million tons of coke per year. The first phase of the project includes the construction of two 55 hole, 6-meter-high carbonization chamber coke ovens, as well as supporting chimneys, coal towers, wet quenching coke systems, screening and transportation coke systems, gas purification systems, sewage treatment facilities, public auxiliary facilities, etc. The second phase of the project involves the construction of two 55 hole coke ovens of the same type, as well as tar processing and crude benzene refining projects, ultimately resulting in an annual coke production of 2.2 million tons.

      The project started on June 10, 2003 and was completed on December 30, 2004, with a total of 569 calendar days.
