From May 10th to June 4th, 2012, after more than 20 days, Shougang Construction Group successfully completed the emergency rescue work for the cracking of the gas downcomer in the No. 3 blast furnace of Shougang Iron and Steel Plant, eliminating the danger.

       In a narrow space with many obstacles, a height of nearly 100m, a diameter of 3.4m, a length (33.3m long section), and a weight (over 120 tons long section) of the downcomer, and a thickness of about 50mm of turtle shell mesh and spray paint on the inner wall of the pipe, which posed a risk of collapse at any time, Shougang Construction Group carefully organized and refined the demolition plan, and used 630t and 400t crawler cranes in two hooks to complete the downcomer demolition work on time and smoothly, receiving unanimous praise from Shougang Corporation.
